Personally, I think your approach is reasonable. You've clearly noted that you intend to hold for the long-term and you're investing money that you know you can lose because you have diversified investments in your future elsewhere. Crypto is risky (as current headlines may show), but there are a lot of risky things in life. All we can do is invest and move forward with the level of risk we're comfortable with.
