This is a great article. This quote hit home. As a startup operator, I remember joining a team where the founder would ask me this on our weekly check-ins. I remember be caught off guard since I'd never worked with a company that really wanted to know anything other than a "I'm good, and I'll get it done" type of response.
To be clear, I'm not a founder, but ever since then, this is a question I like to ask founders I work alongside. The responses I get shine a lot of light on the person I'm working with, blocks they're facing, and the reality of the pressure they face. It's good to talk candidly about this topic and what's really needed in the situation.
Mental health is so key. Being "ruthlessly dedicated" isn't the badge of honor some people make it out to be. If you come out the other side, having sacrificed what really matters (including your health), than what have you really gained?
